Ken has asked that no camper put nails or screws into the trees in the campground.
Also be reminded that only the white water hoses are considered to be safe to bring water into your camper. The sun causes the colored hoses to release harmful chemicals into the water.
Jim and Barb Wentworth, lot 69, are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this year. They have extended an invitation to all to come and participate in their celebration. It is being held on June 7th at the Darke County Fish and Game Club at 2:00 P.M.
May Camper’s Meeting;
Allen advised the campers that Ken had told the canteen service to remove the snack machine as the cooler did not keep the drinks cold. They were advised, many times, that it was not in proper working order with no resolve. Ken is discussing purchasing our own. Also, the gate and fence area, around the dumpster, is scheduled for some improvements.
There was some discussion about the meals. We had some complaints the food was cold at the Welcome Back Dinner. The pool table has been removed from the clubhouse. We have changed the serving line for the food. This will permit keeping pots plugged in and should help in keeping the food warm. This seemed to work better at the Mother’s Day Dinner and seemed to allow for more seating room.
The Mother’s Day raffle netted $155.00. Thank you to Harry McKenna for donating the bucket and Kathy Cottrel for donating. Thank you to Pete, Mary and Lauren for running the raffle for us. Thank you to Jenna Mays for drawing the lucky tickets. Ruby Hines won the gift card and Paul and Lou Sendral won the basket. Congratulations to those winners. Thank you to all who purchased tickets. This helps to make all the activities possible. We could not have a fun and successful campground if it were not for donations and great help.
There was some discussion about the holiday week-end. Everyone, that wants to do so, even adults, should make a boat. The boat should be made of bio-degradable material, such as tree bark, etc. Something that is not harmful to the lake. The boats should be brought to lots 48 &49 at 8:00 P.M., on Sunday evening. The 50/50 drawing will be done at that time as well. We plan a nice service. Everyone should gather at 8:00 P.M. Whether you make a boat or not please come and enjoy the service. The service honors the military members, past and present, that protect our freedom.
Don’t forget, the golf cart poker run is at 1:00 on Saturday, the 24th, and Kickin Country Band at 7:30 P.M.
May 31 is a free week-end.
The June Calendar:
June 7- Will be the Father’s Day carry-in. This will be the week-end before the holiday so families can be together on the actual holiday. We will serve our famous Bar-B-Q beef and coffee. The meal will be at 5:00 P.M. Bring a covered dish and enjoy great food and great company. There will be a raffle that week-end as well.
June 14- 10:30 to 11:30 We will have a sausage and pancake breakfast. Jim and Barb volunteered to serve gravy and biscuits. We will have coffee, if you wish another drink, bring your choice. You do not need to bring any food, if you want to do so please feel free, but the breakfast is not a carry-in. Just come and enjoy.
Camper’s Meeting at 2:00 P.M. Come help plan and share ideas for events. Ideas come from the camper’s that make it fun. Come share and also know and have a say in what we do at the campground.
Bingo is at 7:00 P.M. Jim and Barb extended an invitation to come and enjoy a treat to help celebrate the 50th with them. If you play bingo you will enjoy that but if you do not want to play bingo the break will be around 8:00 P.M. They invite everyone to come and enjoy at that time. It is not clear who has had the most tolerance in those 50 years, but that is definitely a great milestone. Congratulations to Jim and Barb.
June 21- Fishing Derby from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon. Jim and Barb Wentworth, lot 69, are in charge. There are three categories-biggest, smallest and most. Prizes for boys and girls will be awarded in each category. Any youth, 15 years old and younger, may participate. Bait and poles will be furnished. We are trying to get the game warden at the derby for a short presentation.
June 28- free week-end
There was a brief discussion about the fireworks. The plan is to put them off on Saturday, July 5. Scoot Mays has agreed to be in charge again this year. He did a great job last year.
